| Bereavement |
|
The death of a friend or family member is always hard. Even when someone has been gravely ill, and death is anticipated, it still comes as a shock. Death throws up all sorts of feelings and memories, and confronts us with our own mortality. Even those who have a strong religious faith still find that there is a real sense of loss when someone you love dies. As Christians we believe that every life, including our own, is precious to God. We believe that there is hope in death as in life, and that the resurrection of Jesus shows us that our life is changed, not taken away. It is this hope that we bring to every funeral and every bereaved person. The clergy always try to be available to visit parishioners who are gravely ill or near death, and to support and comfort the bereaved. If we can help by taking the funeral or holding a memorial service at St Mary's, do not hesitate to be in touch. We will be pleased to give advice on practical issues to the best of our ability, and to put you in touch with undertakers if appropriate. Bereavement can be a long and lonely journey. We will be glad to be part of your continuing support in the months ahead. God of all consolation, |
