It was announced on Monday 7 April, from 10 Downing Street, that the Queen has appointed Fr Robert Atwell as Suffragan Bishop of Stockport in the Diocese of Chester.

His last Sunday at St Mary's will be Pentecost, Sunday 11th May at which he will celebrate and preach. He moves to Cheshire the following week. He will be consecrated a bishop in York Minster by the Archbishop of York on the Feast of the Nativity of John the Baptist, Tuesday 24th June at 11am and would be delighted if parishioners could be there for the service. Arrangements for tickets for the consecration will be published soon.
