Gracious God,
may the doors of St Mary's be open to all who seek you;
may they be wide enough
to welcome all who need human love and friendship,
but narrow enough to shut out pettiness and pride;
may its thresholds be no stumbling block to young feet,
but too high to admit complacency and jealousy.
Make us living stones in a living church,
dedicated to making the love of Christ known,
that your kingdom may come
and your will be done. Amen.
